Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a therapist and a peer support specialist?
A therapist provides clinical diagnosis and evidence-based treatment. A peer support specialist uses their own lived experience to offer encouragement, empathy, mentorship, and practical advice on navigating the challenges of daily recovery. Both roles are vital and work together.
Am I required to participate in external community groups?
While participation is strongly encouraged for long-term success, it is always a collaborative decision between you and your clinical team. We help you explore options and find the external groups (like 12-step programs or similar support) that best fit your personal needs and values
Will I have time for outside visits or activities with my family?
Yes. As part of your transition and integration planning, we encourage healthy family contact and community activities based on clinical appropriateness. These are carefully planned with your Case Manager to support your recovery without compromising your safety or stability.
