Trauma-Informed Care

Healing with Respect: Trauma-Informed, Person-Centered Care

At New Dreams Recovery & Housing, we understand that behavioral health challenges often stem from past experiences. Our entire philosophy centers around Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) and Person-Centered Care (PCC). This integrated approach shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

We ensure every interaction is rooted in dignity, safety, and respect, positioning you as the active partner in your own recovery and empowering you to lead your journey to wellness.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does "Trauma-Informed" mean for me?

It means that our entire staff and facility are trained to recognize the widespread impact of trauma. We treat all residents with sensitivity, emphasize transparency and trust, and use therapeutic approaches that avoid putting you in a situation that feels overwhelming or re-traumatizing.

Who is in charge of my treatment plan?

You are. Person-Centered Care means that while our clinical team provides the expertise and evidence-based options, you provide the direction. We ensure your goals are always the driving force behind your individualized treatment plan.

Do I have to talk about my trauma during therapy?

No, not unless you are ready. Our goal is to create safety. We support residents in building the necessary coping and stabilization skills first. You decide what you discuss, and when you discuss it, at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you.
